Qiaqihai Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section lies southeast of Wuzunbulak Spring on the south slope of Nalinkalatawu, Xinjiang. It was named by Bai Guangqun et al. in 1981.
Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone. Composed mainly of normal terrigenous clastic rocks, dominantly gray and gray-green. Gray-brown and yellow-brown greywacke-like medium-grained sandstone, lithic sandstone, intercalated with fine sandy clastic limestone, sandy mudstone and silty mudstone. 1110.4 m thick. Southeast of the Wuzunbulak Spring, the formation is composed of gray-green moderately thick-bedded greywacke, lithic grit and medium-grained sandstone intercalated with siliceous siltstone; thickness 695 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Jimunai Fm (吉木乃Fm).
Upper contact
Unknown: Top unexposed
Regional extent
Exposed only on the south slope of Nalinkalatawu (i.e. Kekesentawu), Burqin County

Fossils
Bivalves Phestia, Sanguinolites sp., etc. at type section. Southeast of the Wuzunbulak Spring, the formation contains Brachiopods Choristites sp., Dictyoclostus americanua, etc.

It is interpreted as neritic terrigenous clastics.
